I don't know about you but we've been having bloody awful weather in Los Angeles this week, today alone has seen (and heard) torrential rain, thunder, a flooded garden and of all things… a tornado warning – hard to believe I'm living in sunny SoCal. So of course I'm finding myself longing for summer, me the girl that longs for rain and cold, is missing the sun. Yep, weather, you just can't win with some people.
So inevitably my mind wanders to pretty things, summer dresses, sunshine & flowers. Here's what's inspiring me this month.
- Notebooks – specifically these ones by Archie Grand. I'm kind of a sucker for a notebook, it's the romantic novelist in me. I have literally 100's, some full, some really not, yet I think I'll still have to make room for at least one, and at 8.99 euros each, maybe two or three of these fab ones. The problem will be choosing from the witty selection. In the running is the pictured 'Suffragettes I have Met and Liked', 'Lovers I have Had and Liked' and 'Communists I Met and Liked'
- Unexpected Florals – I've been a fan of the floral dress ever since my mother stopped making me wear them, ironically. But as a purveyor of the so called 'Granny Print' for, oh, at least a decade now, it's exciting to see florals appearing in more unexpected places. Such as these 'I'd literally to kill to have them so they're so damn amazing they belong on my feet forever and ever' floral boots from Mod Cloth at $175.99. Aren't they beyond divine? It's my birthday in a matter of months kids…c'mon! Also in the running for my heart are the gorgeous floral jazz shoes from ASOS at $47.59 and the floral bowling bag also from ASOS at $42.49.
- Posh Packaging – I just spotted this 'designer' McDonalds (dubbed 'McFancy') packaging over at Slice of Style… and despite my newly acquired vegetarian status (almost 4 months going strong!) the idea of a Burberry packaged Big Mac is making me go a little weak at my label whore clad knees… Read the full story here. (Disclaimer – I'm not actually a label whore, I am however a novelty whore, clarifying this makes me feel better about myself)
- Targetted Design – Just like much of the blogosphere I'm super excited about all the designer collaborations Target has going on this year, from Jean-Paul Gaultier (I got a fantastic glimpse over at The Cut the other day – Target have since asked them to remove the images – but there's a trench to die for) to Liberty of London (a long time fave of mine) which will be coming in March and Zac Posen which is coming in April (pictured – I MUST have that dress) Blackburn & Sweetzer has been keeping track with a nifty collab timeline and Fashionista has the full Zac Posen lookbook.
What's inspiring you?

I live in Los Angeles too and I have always loved the rain but even this is too much for L.A.
I am looking forward to spring,L.A. summer is just way too hot for me.
Love your blog!
Thanks…! it just seems to rain harder the more I whine…lol.
I totally share your love for notebooks…it’s some kind of addiction because a)I think the world changes if I just write enough of my dreams / plans etc down and b) that way I can of course jot all my ideas down there and then though since I have the iPhone I use an app for that (sad isn’t it?). Those are fabulous! I may go back to paper ones after all…
