Reportage

Locale: Unique LA Spring 2011: My Top Ten!

Unique LA was, as per usual, a sensory and sartorial overload. So much to see, do buy, taste (insane liquor cakes from Immaculate Confections took the biscuit…or cake rather) below are my top ten faves from the show (in no particular order)

UniqueLA-1

Fab coin purses from Heroes and TailsUniqueLA-2

Charming necklaces from Mae Mae JewelryUniqueLA-3

Amazing cork doctors bag from Peasants and Travelers.

Probably my favourite thing from the show was these amazing vintage typewriter and phone dial rings (and display cases some of which were also for sale!) from Robynn Molino. I bought one made from a typewriter typewheel part, I love it!
Uniquela-6
Uniquela-7

Gorgeous brass pieces from Nikki Montoya – I'm so in love with brass (always have been, but now it's bordering on obsession)
UNiquela-9

Some millinery creations from the ever creative Bijou Van Ness.
UniqueLA-10

The lovely Tess Vigil of an L.A fave of mine – 50 Dresses.
UNiqueLA-11

I fell for Stella Neptune's moth appliqued, moth holed (the moth appliques cover the holes) cashmere at my very first Unique LA and was excited to see that she's now selling the appliques! I need the band aids in my life…now to hunt for some moth holed sweaters!
UniqueLA-12
Uniquela-13

Amazing embroidered designs from Loschy.
UNiquela-14
I love, love, love these printed clutches (and iPad cases) from Threads of Change. They have a studio in Ghana in which they educate women in sewing skills so that they can earn a living.

Kelsi Smith.
