Last week after connecting with Mila Hermanovski of Project Runway fame on Twitter, I was able to pop by and see her Holiday Collection in DTLA. The space was a new showroom in the Academy Awards building, very industrial and very cool…she said lacking in decent adjectives (I saved them all for the rest of the post)
Mila's collection matched the aesthetic of the building and echoed many of her pieces from her final collection on Project Runway. As the show owns her Project Runway collection she wanted to create a collection that was an extension of that, and she succeeded in staying true to her obviously well honed brand without repeating herself.
Seeing the collection up close was a true testament to Mila's design and craftmanship skills, when you watch the show you often wonder if the clothes, put together so harriedly, just look good but are of poor quality, but this is not the case with Mila. The leggings pictured in the top image are painstakingly put together with approx 50 pieces, leggings, literally as art.
With her signature monochromatic palette Mila's collection was cohesive and yet vibrant, with the occasional pop of colour and more of a focus on texture and lines. The clothing and graphical lines gave the garments an architectural quality. Modern, sophisticated, very wearable and extremely desirable.
If this collection is anything to go by I am sincerely looking forward to see more from Mila Hermanovski with the coming seasons.
Thanks Mila.

I’m dying for that sweater. I really loved her work on Proj. Runway. She makes clothes that I want to wear – vintage inspired, mod, but very now with a lot of edge. Great coverage Kelsi!
