I have discovered the fundamental problem with blogging…the more success you have, the less time you have to devote to the thing that made you successful in the first place…le sigh!
It's really gotten too late for any of the upcoming posts I have to be current, but I do want to share them with you, even if I'm irresponsibly tardy. Coming up I have Los Angeles tradeshow show fun, Jen Awad, Fremont and Adolfo Sanchez….not to mention a flurry of Bloggers' Café's AND our current project Meet the Public (go check it out, it's open 11am-7pm at 620 S Main in DTLA!)
BUT first we have the wonderful Mila Hermanovski….!
Mila's show was one of the most professional shows I saw at Los Angeles Fashion Week (it was at Concept Fashion Week to be specific) it's an understatement to say that she has her branding down, from the simplistic asymmetrical, monochromatic lines on the backdrop that shout "this is Mila" to her gorgeous opening graphic video, and most importantly her cohesive collection which included some stunning jewelry.
The collection itself whilst minimal in it's aesthetic was nothing but in it's execution. Pieces such as leggings, tunics and dresses put together painstakingly, in what seems like a zillion pieces of fabric. The items in concept alone make it obvious how much work Mila has put in to this amazing collection.
The leggings, which I saw up, close and personal when I had the privilege of viewing her 'Holiday' collection earlier this year, should be on everyone's wish list, but the dresses and tunics were absolutely my favourites. The finale gown, worn by Brandise (Mila's Project Runway model and muse) was breathtaking, it's currently on display at 'Meet the Public' and I have spent a good deal of time pouring over the exquisite detail and it's truly phenomenal (and have found another dress in the running for my Snowball gown!)
I managed to grab some models backstage and get some better shots of my favourite pieces.
The gorgeous Brandise Danesewich wearing THE gown, just look at those layers!
This silky nautical tunic dress would be worn 'the hell out of' in the summer time – you all know how I'm a sucker for stripes! Mila commented backstage that her cropped leggings were designed for those of us who want a lightweight coverage for their legs in the summer time when tights, pants and full leggings would be unbearable…that would be me then!
This silk tunic was my favourite piece, I love the ink and water effect of the dye and this piece is most definitely on my wishlist!
Mila and Brandise hamming it up for the cameras in the chaos of backstage!
Congratulations Mila, on a truly fab collection. It was commented by one colleague that it reminded him of an early Helmut Lang collection, and I hope Mila receives the same success and honour in her career, all she deserves for being so lovely and so talented.

The collection is really great – unique but wearable. I think my favorite is the third photo. I would wear that all black tunic and leggings combination for sure. And THE dress is fantastic too. The sort of thing you could easily wear for years and years and never go out of fashion. Thanks for the post! I don’t really mind that it’s been a while, it’s still fun to see.
Love,
Heather
