This outfit is completely symbolic of the sartorial changes I went through whilst in Japan. The whole trip pushed me into a less contrived, ironically less “kawaii” manner of dressing (I wrote about it a little here)
I don’t want to say “normcore” – it’s not – it’s more stylized than that – but it’s simpler and much less frilly than I used to dress. It’s “this is 30 – it’s sophisticated, but it’s still artistic and different”
The outfit, shot on the balcony of my London apartment (courtesy of Marlin Apartments – more on that later) is entirely from Monki – and was purchased in Tokyo (though I did spot both the jumpsuit and the coat in the London Monki when I stopped in!). The shoes are from Tophop.
