Last Wednesday night myself and my dear friend Cirrus (and Two Point Oh LA helper-outer) headed over to the rooftop at the JW Marriot Downtown for the second part of the FGILA "Heat" Summer Soiree. A great networking event put together by FGILA, to keep the fashion community buzzing even in the off-season heat of the summer.
Again I had a bit of a camera 'fail' (I can hear Mr Style in my head yelling at me for my continued use of the word "fail" I apologise dear) so whilst a couple of these pics are mine the rest can be attributed to Felix Salzman of Lookbook LA. Felix can also be blamed for my excessive posing…. he's quite persuasive behind the camera! You can see more pictures here.
I attended alongside some of the fabulous individuals behind the 'new' fashion week, 'Fashion Los Angeles', set to launch in February 2011 and fronted by Michael Venedicto and Jeff Warrington (Michael Venedicto pictured above – white jacket, talking to photographer – Paul Redmond) I'm being purposefully vague here as I'll have so much more information to share with you soon and I want to save it for it's own special post. You can, however, find out more information here.
It was a wonderful evening (short lived for this event hopping/event planning writer – who needed sleep far more than free booze and fashion schmoozing!) but I met some wonderful people, including Valli Herman, a smart and witty writer for the LA Times, Paul Redmond, an LA based photographer and this dapper fellow pictured below (as evidenced by last Sunday's Mr Style File – I love a man in seersucker!)
Barefoot Wine were on hand throughout the evening to satiate our thirst with yummy sangria and live fashion installations (models!) were positioned throughout the rooftop landscape, from B by Donna M, Velvet Angels Luxury Footwear, Aether, Crocs and K. Amato.

What I Wore: Dress: Rodarte for Target, Apple Pie Purse: Antoni + Alison, Oxfords: Golden Ponies, Camera Strap (which so rarely get's a spotlight as I'm always behind the camera!): Courtesy of Capturing Couture.
I do wish I'd been able to stay longer and meet more people…but busy times! Next time for sure. Thanks FGILA.
