Way back when, at the beginning of the week, yep it's been one of those weeks, so much happened, between market week, a shoot for Sole Society and the Debbie Reynolds exhibit (as well as all my normal weekly duties) this week has been a busy one, but it all kicked off with a party!
Two Point Oh! LA co-hosted, alongside the L.A Fashion District and The California Market Center, opening night cocktail party for L.A Market Week. For those that don't know, market week is something I lend my support to, in a journalistic capacity, four times a year. As buyers from all over the country fly into Los Angeles to visit the tradeshows and showrooms of our many, many designers.
Stylist, Bettina Bati
For me, market week is more important than fashion week – it's often less glamorous – but this is where the industry of fashion happens – when the front row glamour pusses stay home and the designers (and inevitably the rest of the entire fashion industry) make their money. Fashion is the second biggest industry in Los Angeles (which is why it pains many that we don't have a traditional fashion week) so supporting the designers, buyers and showrooms is very important to Los Angeles as a whole. Which is what made co-hosting this party so special.
The party was a huge success, drawing in designers, stylist and lots of press. It was quite a way to start the week, boozing on Hpnotiq Harmonie cocktails and munching on yummy nibbles and purple frosted cupcakes whilst networking, socialising and catching up on all the local fashion gossip. It was the best way to kick off one of the most successful market week's I've seen in the years I've been covering it – and I'll have more on that later!
