Whilst I didn't strictly grow up in Topsham, a) I didn't move to Devon till I was 14 and b) I lived one train stop away, there's something about it that screams home to me. Nearly all my high school friends lived there, in fact in school we were know as "The Topsham Lot" – kind of like a gang. Except we'd have sleepovers on trampolines and play pass the ice cube (erm…with our mouths) instead of drive by's. All innocent teenage fun (underage cigarettes and cider aside…)
With that in mind, every trip home mandates a trip to Topsham, a walk along the estuary and a pint in one of the many pubs (there's a infamous Topsham Ten Pub crawl devoted to them) – and this was said trip. A stroll along the Goat Walk, a trip to the antiques centre – an amazing place stocked full of knick knacks, bric a brac and, well, antiques, where Mr Style bought me a ring and asked me to stay married to him for a few more years – and finally a pint of cider in the Lighter Inn.
