Back in March I had a wonderful opportunity afforded to me, one of my best friends, client, and LAFC designer, Jennifer Lynn of Linden, is currently working as a member of the costume department at the Los Angeles Ballet under the costume designer Marianne Parker.
For my birthday she gave me tickets to see Sleeping Beauty, and the whole time I was watching, what was a lovely ballet, I sat there thinking “I want to photograph these costumes and these dancers”
So a week later I found myself backstage at UCLA’s Royce Hall doing exactly that.
It was a wonderful opportunity, as a photographer and as someone who loves to shine a light on culture in a city where the pervasive thought is that Los Angeles is void of any. After living almost a decade here, I can categorically say that’s not true. There’s culture at every turn, and the Los Angeles Ballet is one of those small treasures.
As I train myself to blog more frequently (back in 2008 you couldn’t get rid of me – all I did was blog) these are the happenings I wish to capture, alongside fashion and my life naturally, so I hope you enjoy, because I hope there will be more to come.
If you’re interested in checking out the Los Angeles Ballet for yourself, you can. This weekend they will open their last show of the season “Directors Choice” – Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.2 / Balanchine, Sechs Tänze (Six Dances) / Kylián and The Moor’s Pavane / Limón
