This is so embarrassing to admit, but it has to come out. I
write for a fashion blog, so I’m supposed to have impeccable style, right? Well
lately I’ve been in a total style rut. I’ve been wearing the same boring black
boots, skinny jeans and long sweaters all winter long and I need to shake it
up! After taking a good look around me, I discovered some hidden style gems
that will serve as inspirations as I get my act together!
Unexpected Braids – Sienna Miller
debuted the unexpected braids a few years ago and Kate Hudson brought the trend back
at the premier of Nine. When done right, braids look effortless, beachy but
still elegant – but do them wrong and you end up looking like a milkmaid! I’m
currently growing out my side bangs and I’ve taken to French braiding them back
so they’re out of my face once and for all. Another upside to braids? You can
easily dress down overly formal attire so you don’t look like you’re going to
Chloe Shoes – The Cherry Blossom Girl takes amazing photos
and has killer style, but lately one thing has caught my attention over
anything else: her shoes! Most of the time they’re Chloe and they’re absolutely
fabulous. From booties to lace up boots to strappy sandals, Chloe shoes are
always super chic. If only they were in my price range! You can bet I’ll be Ebay
searching my heart out to find some of these beauties.
Unique Bookshelves – When I left home to live in a tiny
townhouse up at school I had to bid farewell to my huge white bookshelf. Instead
of a bookshelf now, I’ve taken to randomly
stacking books on my desk – so disorganized! This blog features unusual, rare
and even outright bizarre bookshelves. My favorite is the tree
bookshelf – it would look perfect in my room!
Girls with Guitars – Lately my playlist has been heavy on Feist,
(whom I saw back in the fall of 2007! She wore purple tights and a gorgeous
white dress, always a trendsetter) Mirah, Brooke Waggoner (who I’m planning to
see in April, so excited!) and Maria Taylor. Sometimes cheerful but always
poignant, these artists transform my dull winter days into something
spectacular. Make your own playlist on Pandora and be blown away by these
