Fashionable Inspirations from My Life to Yours:
Twiggy – Known for defining "mod" in the 1960s, she is the ultimate fashion icon. Wow, those eyelashes are so fabulous. It makes sense that I love mascara and black eyeliner so much. Twiggy has always been such an inspirational fashion figure to me, and today is no different!
The Military Look – If you have been out in the malls enough over the last few months, you have noticed that Forever21 is fully stocked with military-inspired jackets. As a girl who grew up on the Beatles, I love anything that looks Sgt. Pepper, but I am still searching for the perfect vest or jacket. The hunt is almost more fun than the find sometimes!
Vedera – Ever since this band opened for Eisley's Combinations Tour in 2008, I have been a dedicated fan of Vedera. Not only are the vocals flawless, but the lyrics are so relatable and inspiring. When I heard the Stages EP for the first time, I was so inspired to reach for the stars and reminded to always dream big about my life. Songs like "Taking Chances" and "Satisy" (this week's iTunes pick of the week by the way) are among my favorites. Plus, with her cute pixie haircut and unique clothing choices, lead singer Kristen May should earn some major style points!
Vintage Belts – My last two looks on Lookbook are representative of this current craze of mine. For the longest time, I have kept all these beautiful vintage belts neatly stored in one of my drawers. Since I started my new jobs and decided to be more of a budget fashionista, I have been inspired to create new looks with these fabulous accessories.
Textured Tights – In general, I am in love with tights of all kinds right now. Whether they are lacey, colored, or textured, my collection is growing every day. Since it has been below freezing the past few days, tights have been a much-needed part of my wardrobe. Plus, they are SO in right now!
Urban Outfitters Peak Into Spring – Have you received your Pre-Spring catalog from UO yet? It was too hard to pick a specific item that is inspiring me. The swimsuits look retro, the shoes are cute, the dresses scream spring, and the list goes on. As always, the photography and presentation is just as inspiring as the clothes and accessories themselves. Check out the online version of the catalog!
Hairstyle Tutorials from Ford Models – A few months back, I searched hair tutorials on YouTube and quickly came across a wonderful selection from Johnny Lavoy at Ford Models. I love these tutorials more than any others because they are fairly short with great instruction and explanation. Many of the styles include lovely braided details, so I have been feeling and looking boho lately. Check out my favorite video: Bohemian Braid with a Twist. Maybe one day, Johnny can style my hair for me. Please please please!!
What is inspiring you as we begin this wonderful new decade?
