Underwear as outwear is such as massive trend this seasons and can be disastrous if not worn correctly and you certainly don't want to look like you've stepped straight out of the eighties. The key is to know what suits your body type; colours, shapes, styles and to know when enough, is enough. And layer! Layering is important, think Marc Jacobs; he layered fifties style bras over pastel blouses for a sweet but chic take on the trend.
An item that will suit most people, and is a great way to step right in to the forefront of this trend, is to invest in a lace body suit. It can be worn with literally any bottom; shorts, skirt, trousers or jeans. Team with a boyfriend-blazer for a very sexy grownup take. Make sure you wear a matching coloured bra underneath your body suit, though!
Exposed holdups were a big thing on the Christian Dior catwalk, with stocking tops visible through the sheer floor lenght dresses. Though, it was later revealed that these bands were sewing in to the garments to give the appearance of stockings. Why not wear stockings, with a very highly slit-at-the-back pencil skirt, so as you walk, there's just a slight hint of stocking?
Longling bras with highwasited jeans, longline bras underneath loosely worn blouses, camisoles worn with or without blouses, exposed stockings, sheer blouses exposing your lingerie, corsets worn with a pair of tailored trousers and a lovely wool cardigan. Pretty and sweet, chic and sexy. So many ways to wear this trend!
This is definitely one of my favorite trends and something I started to wear as soon as I saw lace body suits on the shelves. And I've always been a massive fan of stockings, hold-up and hoisery in general.
