Moving swiftly on to week two of our Spring/Summer trend report, with one of my favourite looks of the summer. Every Spring/Summer season there's some sort sort of trend with a bohemian vibe however over the past few summers the trend has felt a little dated, and perhaps a little overdone. This treatment of a common trend is here to save it, I'm excited about boho all over again.
Except this time it is different. This time it's little grungier, a little tougher, there's rough denim, boots, leather, the skirts are a little shorter, the prints are a little funkier, the jewelry chunkier. Remember this is Southwest baby…and I mean the wild west, I'm not talking flower children here.
If you want to work a softer look, use lighter fabrics, lighter colours, and pretty embroidery but don't forget your boots and tough vest.
Is anyone else dreaming of a visit to Santa Fe yet?
On the catwalk Jasmine Di Milo worked with elements of the look with fringing and lacing detail with a lush neutral palette. Bottega Veneta also presented elements of the trend including fringing, laced sandals and chunky natural stone jewelry, not to mention their signature weave in their beautiful bags (I think I'd die for one.. though that may be pointless..ha) and Louis Vuitton took a bubblegum touting, harajuku princess take on the trend with clashing prints, tassels, fringing, fur trims (ack..sorry, keep it fake kids) and chunky jewelry all in vibrant colours.
Over the week we'll be looking at the trends that make up this look that I'm increasingly feeling a burning passion for, even as I write. We'll be featuring turquoise, fringe, embroidery & weaving, feathers and the all important bolo tie. So stay tuned…partner.
