Style Soundtrack – Beirut

Style Soundtrack-Vampire Weekend

Beirut is the project of Zach Condon a New Mexico native who dropped out of Highschool and traveled throughout Europe.  He discovered the music of Eastern Europe and began to create the sounds of his project Beirut when he returned home.

I love music that transports me to another place.  I first listened to the band Beirut when I was nineteen, living in
Switzerland.  My friends and I would drive into Lausanne, Switzerland
on Lake Geneva in the early weeks of winter listening to the album
"Gulag Orkester" which had been released earlier that Year. The songs remind me of midnight interpretive dance parties, playing capture the flag in the woods, and taking long walks in fields with cow bells ringing and braids in our hair.  In turn I also imagine I'm in a beat up old car exploring Croatia, Lithuania, and Romania eating midday picnics and playing chess with old men. Haha.

In either scenario, what would be better to wear than a pretty printed sweater dress, a knit balaclava and maybe some Russian doll earrings for good measure?

Enjoy the sounds of Beirut!

1. Anthropologie Dress – $188 – Anthropologie  2. Balaclava – $62 – Knittles  3. Doll Earrings – $33 – Yasmin Bochi  4. Mary Janes – $59.99 – Bakers Shoes  (I ordered these shoes. Im obsessed with them.  So cute, and ON SALE!!)  5. Knit Lariat – $48 – Big Frozen Melon  6. Balaclava – Etsy (I feel horrible, but I can't find the link for  this. I'm looking high and low and will update AS SOON AS I find it!)
