Style Soundtrack – London Calling by The Clash

By Sarah Corley

London Calling

For this edition of our very cool Style Soundtrack category, I decided to branch a bit and go beyond folk, acoustic, or pop, even though that does describe my taste most of the time. So to pull myself out of that rut and to change things up for your reading pleasure, I nominated my lovely little sister to choose the song. My sister is super hip and fun with a cute rocker look–she could TOTALLY join a band if she wanted. I like to think that we balance each other out; she keeps me up on rock 'n' roll while I clue her into the best folk music out there. We even used to have a musical project of our own…just think about the interesting music that came from that collaboration. Genius!

While I go off to think about getting the band back together, enjoy this fabulous song from The Clash, one of the better punk rock bands of the late 70s and early 80s. Of course, how could any band coming out of Great Britain be anything less than fantastic?

WEAR IT:

With a name like "London Calling," this song deserves some kind of salute to Britain's Union Jack. A cute screen tee with the flag looks so punk rock with a mixture of glam accessories and edgy clothing details (those jeans with duct tape are my new must-haves). To finish it off, throw on some classic Chuck Taylors and a black vest.

1) Union Jack Heart Tee – $24.50 – dELiAs; 2) Poofy Mesh Bow Headband – $4.80 – Forever 21; 3) Lacquer Earrings – $4.80 – Forever 21; 4) Tight Denim Jeans with Duct Tape -$78 – 80's Purple; 5) Linen Blend Waistcoat by Acne – $177 – Farfetch; 6) Chuck Taylor Red Hi-Tops – $45 – Converse All Star; 7) Quilted Bag by Hurley – $38 – SWELL

Enjoy dressing like my sister for the day lovelies!

Fantastic post–great song/genre for fun fashion! And THANK YOU for spelling duct tape (not “duck” tape)! Those pants are wild. I’m feeling a DIY project coming on…xo
