Having lost more people in my life to depression than cancer (or any other illness for that matter), and suffered from bouts of depression myself, this morning's post on Kelly Ryan O'Brien's blog 'Stuff I like' was particularly poignant.
Kelly introduced her readers to a movement (having in turn been introduced to it by Rachel of Get Ready Set Go here) called 'To Write Love on Her Arms'. The site itself has a wealth of information from their blog to current projects, but the following is all you really need to know right here.
"To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery."
This incredible organization has been around since 2006, and tomorrow will be "To Write Love On Her Arms" day, where you are all encouraged to literally write love on your arms, and when someone asks "why?" you can tell them. Spread the word :)
I'll post a picture of my arm art tomorrow and fully encourage you to do the same! Tweet-pic them to @Stylesmith!
And please sometimes, a shoulder, a kind voice and a hand is all someones needs to encourage them to get help, remember that this week :)

You’re welcome Rachel, the project inspired a creative henna session, I shall be posting pictures tomorrow, alongside some poetry by lost friend.
Thank you for providing me with some moments of introspection today, it’s been good amongst the chaos.
