Every time I’ve been in Portland I’ve heard the phrase “I’m going up the mountain”. Something about this really got my romantic sensibilities going (much like when I was 19 I’d like to say “I’m going to runaway to Copenhagen” until I did, for three days, long story short, it was cold)
So when my dear friend Emily invited me to “go up the mountain”, declining was obviously not an option. So up the mountain I headed.

The driving snow was quite the shocker for this girl, wearing jeans and a t-shirt, but worth the near hypothermia for a glimpse at the hotel that was used as the exterior for The Overlook in The Shining.
Also. Orange vodka mixed with hot chocolate and whipped cream.
