What to Wear – A Summer BBQ

Ah, summer is practically here (believe it or not we've a had gloomy days and even summer rain here in Los Angeles!) and that means BBQ season.

Now you'd think a BBQ is easy to dress for, and it is, but the difficulty always is, it's a BBQ, it's a backyard, but it's also a party…so here are some ideas to put those newly created anxieties at rest.

Summerbbq1

This outfit is cute, laidback and has a luxe streak making it perfect for that party vibe without trying too hard (make sure you click on the blouse in the link below so you can see the detail it's really gorgeous)

The skirt is a really flattering shape, nice high waist with a funky full but short skirt. Straw is huge this summer (well every summer but it's in with a vengeance this summer) and those bright red Chucks are so fab and so versatile.

Skirt: Anthropologie – $148, Blouse: Hier Apparel – $80,
Straw Hat: Estate Sale – $39,
Straw Purse: Bayside Boutique – $25, Converse Trainers: Zappos – $55.95

Summerbbq2

This outfit is definitely feeling the seventies vibe that's rocking this summer, we featured these jeans a few weeks back in our handmade denim piece, and I'm still quite obsessed with them, paired with these amazing vintage platform sandals (I've yet to track down a pair in my size I can afford but I'm looking!) and you have to love the nautical, summery gingham and stripes combo, perfect. And of course it's all topped off with this summers obligatory straw hat.

Jeans: Kit Kit Dodge – $182, Gingham Top: Anthropologie – $88, Straw Hat: Dear Golden Vintage – $24, Sailor Tote Bag: Bayan Hippo – $27, Newspaper Bracelets: Squishy Sushi – $18 each,
Vintage Platform Sandals: Maries Vintage – $56

Summerbbq3

And last but not least our bargain outfit, coming way under $100, fantabulous. Perfect white summer dress and gorgeous flat sandals, wearable all summer long. Gorgeous cotton bag, and fab necklace pulling it all together and topped off with the perfect vintage hat…

If the dress is a little short or flimsy for you, use your leftover change and simply pop a pair of denim cutoffs underneath, whether they're capri's or short shorts, they'll complete the outfit nicely for the more conservative amongst you.

Dress: Forever 21 – $12.50, Straw Hat: Glamourama – $12.95,
Necklace: Lemon Jitters – $10,
Venice Tote Bag: Piper Bags, Flat Sandals: Go Jane – $12.10

Happy Barbequeing!

#1 is definately my favorite. It looks casual and comfortable – yet super stylish at the same time. You sure have a great eye!
