During GRAMMY Week, which I'm sure you all realise was quite the week for me, I was privileged to visit The Veronica Spa and Skin Care Center in Malibu, and treated to a wonderful facial from the fabulous Veronica herself.
The facial known as 'Veronica's Special Occasion Facial Treatment', worth $300, was beyond a treat. Veronica began by cleansing and exfoliating my skin through a special microdermabrasion method. The exfoliation was a pleasant experience, and whilst I could feel the product working, it did not cause any pain.
The second part of the treat was an LED light treatment, which was originally developed for astronauts by NASA, as a safe way to expose expose their light deprived bodies to what they needed. After use it was discovered that astronauts were coming back with younger looking skin. Thus the machine was co-opted for dermatological use. Which is why I found myself sitting under a ton of lights as they flashed on and off to stimulate collagen. Again this was not a painful or uncomfortable experience. The lights were warm but not hot.
The final part of the facial was the best part. Using oxygen Veronica pushed hyaluronic acid directly into my skin, to plump, hydrate and refresh. The oxygen facial felt so amazing, I want one of these machines at my home – especially in the hot L.A summers – can you imagine? The push of oxygen was cool and refreshing and definitely soothing.
Overall, this was a sensational facial – nothing painful during the process – in fact it was a highly pleasurable process – and in the aftermath my skin felt wonderful. Smoother, tighter and quite literally glowing. Over the following week I had my make up done a few times for all the GRAMMY activities and everytime I was complimented on how beautiful my skin was (not something that happens everyday) – and my skin remained completely clear (minus one entirely unpreventable hormonal zit…what is with those?!)
Now to dig up a spare $300 to go back for more..! (though next to time I want the 24 carat GOLD facial!!)
