Well, I thought I'd start off this week with a big fun bang and formally announce some excellent news!
Many of you may know this
already through my excitable posts on Twitter and Facebook, but, I have officially signed up to
work alongside Fashion Los Angeles, the new platform for Los Angeles Fashion Week. I'll be working as their Director for Special Programs Social Marketing.
Fashion Los Angeles is aiming to unify fashion week in Los Angeles by creating a unique program in which fashion week (or what is currently weeks) can come together on the same platform to present a united front. Not only this but Fashion Los Angeles isn't about celebrating Los Angeles fashion just two weeks a year, the program runs all year building and strengthening the Los Angeles fashion community, literally from the ground up. Their website and blog can give you a lot more information and the lovely Laurie Brucker visited the office just last week to get the scoop from CEO Michael Venedicto – which I suggest you check out here.
So what am I doing? One of the most exciting things, at least for me personally, is the multi-media, fully technologically advanced side of everything. Did you like my tech jargon?! Fashion Los Angeles, much like me, will not just operate on one platform, they fully embrace all of the fashion community and understand the future of fashion. From video, to web based interactivity to bloggers. We're talking full embrace of new media and new technology. Naturally, with the recent launch of Two Point Oh LA it makes sense that we join forces, especially given our common ambitions and passion for Los Angeles fashion. (I'm ignoring the rhyme…!)
Our first joint venture, 'Bloggers Cafe', will begin August 23rd. 'Bloggers Cafe' will be an event every other
week held Downtown in the Fashion Los Angeles
offices. The plan
is to match 10-20 bloggers at a time with around five designers. In
these informal meetings, bloggers will have the opportunity to meet with
the designers, use, explore and take home product. By Fashion Los Angeles'
official launch in February 2011, we hope that 100 bloggers will have
been through the doors of 'Bloggers Cafe' and will have proven to the
Los Angeles fashion world exactly why we deserve our front row seats!
Our second venture,
is 'Meet the Public' (flyer posted above – click on it to see a larger version) is a stylist curated 'pop-up' shop to run in Downtown
Los Angeles, featuring shopping aisles curated by stylists Raymond Lee
and Nancy Baitlin. Shoppers will be able to purchase affordably priced
goods, style them in store, and will be given the opportunity to
"holler" their fabulous style on camera for a web-based audience.
'Bloggers Cafe' will be set up amidst the fabulousity and bloggers will
be able to soak up the styling adventures, live performers and
entertainment and live blog and tweet them from the venue.
If you're a designer, brand, PR representative, artist – anything! And would like to be involved in either project drop me an email at kelsi at fashionlosangeles dot org.
It all sounds pretty darn fabulous, agreed?
Honestly, the past month or so has been a bit of a whirlwind with all my new projects, but they're all coming together in such wonderful harmony that it's hard to believe we didn't plan it years ago. I do want to assure you all though, despite the chaos my life is evolving into, I'm not going anywhere. Mr Style has joked that I may have to add "slightly less" in front of our title….but I promise, that's just not happening. If anything I'm amping up our content to live up to the new expectations of me. We're only going to grow and improve and both Two Point Oh LA and Fashion Los Angeles will be a huge part of that growth, I assure you.
So here's to a fabulous week, and an amazing year (and future years) for fashion in Los Angeles.
