My Mum
It's 'Friend Friday' again folks! Katie from Modly Chic had questions inspired by this weekends mothers day! (which is funny for me because mother's day was months ago in the UK!)
1. Which character trait of your mother's do you hope to emulate?
I wish, wish, wish I had her 'impeccably tidy' gene… I have the rest of them, why not that one?! My Mum's house is always flawless, everything has a place (but not in a stuffy way) and it's always clean and tidy. My house is the opposite. Tidiness aside, my Mother is warm and caring and has a certain sixth sense…that for better or worse, I've inherited. You can't lie to her (or me!) She's also a LOT of fun and I miss getting to spending time with her, damn Atlantic Ocean….

2. What are your thoughts on your mother's sense of fashion?
My Mother is a very snappy dresser! She has great style and an artists eye. Her style is a little bohemian, I'd describe it as 'luxe boho'. She made a lot of my clothes when I was younger and still makes her own clothes now…I wish we weren't oceans apart as I'd have her at the sewing machine constantly (that's probably something she's thankful for!)
3. When you reach your 70's you want people to look at you and think…
Oh crazy old lady – definitely…I've wanted to be a crazy old lady since the day I was born!
4. What piece or pieces from your mom's closet would you like to incorporate into your own?
My Mum was tiny when she was my age so I haven't been able to fit into her amazing "vintage" wardrobe since I was 14 (and a size 2 – she was THAT tiny!) but she has this one purse that a friend made her years and years ago (I've talked about this purse on here before) It's a beautiful tooled leather satchel with painted butterflies…it's amazing and I've never seen anything like it anywhere.
5. What I like best about my mother is…
She let's me get on with it…ha! I've always been 'free spirited' and I've made some mistakes, but she's always been there for me and endured my flights of fancy. Not many mothers would be accepting, let alone embracing of a Las Vegas elopement ; ) We're very similar, sometimes too much so (!) but she's honestly one of the best people I know and she's never ever let me down.
See you again with another 'Friend Friday' next week!

Wow! thanks so much for your uptdeas on motherhood.Amy – you really are in the thick of things – super busy with your young cherubs and homeschooling – I take my hat off to you – I don’t know how you do it!Carolyn – you cherubs are still really young and I love that you are trying to work out a better option for your family. You have their best interest at heart and that is the most important. Good luck finding something closer.Susan – I think it is great that you can still be at home and help out with the business. No matter what you do it is always hard when kids need your attention. They need it all the time! Love that you are feeling that things are getting easier.Heather – I can so relate to you. We had one car for a couple of years and I was home all the time. In a way it was lovely but in another way it drove me crazy because I felt trapped some days. Lucky you have the internet to connect with other mothers these days and I hope you can have some friends come visit YOU instead of you visiting them.Ria – I love what you have shared. I will be heading into that stage soon and I agree that my older kids need me a lot now that they are in high school. They need help with homework and love having me to chat to about different things.Leesa – I think most of always want the opposite to what we are doing. I so love that you are trying to be happy where you are right now.Aimee – Awesome thoughts. I sometimes feel too tired to fill my own cup and that is when things fall apart. If I could get a better balance though I would not have that problem :)Naomi x
