Yep… I genuinely rocked out to Heart, whilst on the bus.. so the rocking out was kind of a quiet inner rock out..but it was a rock out nonetheless. I've been obsessed with Pandora Radio since getting my iphone for Christmas, and my favourite 'station' (for those that don't know: you input an artist or song & the app creates a 'radio station' that plays that music and picks others you may like based on that choice) is the Bonnie Tyler station…bringing me a fantastic bevy or Eighties female vocalists that empower in me the 'eff off' vibes I often need riding the bus in Los Angeles.
Anyhoo this was my outfit of choice for meeting my dear friend Cain (big musician in Romania soon to be big actor in America) at Bottega Louie in Downtown Los Angeles. Lunch was yummy made all the better by the company. Unfortunately/fortunately hidden under the arugula on our pizza (well one slice) was sausage..on our veggie pizza! Being a fairly new vegetarian it didn't evoke in me any real outrage, I just pointed it out to our waitress which resulted in the entire pizza being comped….hence the 'unfortunately/fortunately'
All together really great atmosphere and great food…and we only had to wait 10 minutes for a table on a Friday lunchtime in DTLA (which is very good – I used to be a restaurant hostess in DTLA there's always a wait Friday lunch!) and they do a neat half pour glass of wine…perfect for lunch or if you just want a taste of wine. Truly a great place to go when I'm missing the upmarket side of London..very euro-chic.
After lunch we high tailed it over to their deli/bakery counter to buy up all their macaroons! They were divine.. as good as Laduree. Flavours change every day but my faves were Chocolate Salted Caramel, Raspberry & Chocolate and the Toasted Coconut….sooo good.
We then headed to the CMC for the sample sales…not so good…a LOT of Ed Hardy..which lets just say is the antithesis of my personal style, and that's being polite.
A brief run down 9th Street had me noticing a few fun new stores including Virgo an eclectic little store deserving of a full post when we fully launch our 'Better Know Your Neighborhood' series.
That's all for now loves.
