A glorious day was had today at the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic Los Angeles, in what was effectively an excuse for us fashion gals to get dressed up and drink champagne. Oh and there were guys on horses waving sticks around too…
Seriously though, it was a fun day, too much champagne, too much sun, but super fun.
There was lots of style to be seen, however, every time I spotted someone to shoot, I seemed to lose them immediately after (something to do with equal parts laziness and champagne I presume) that and I really need to learn how to photograph people in hats, it's nay impossible!
Polka dots were the driving trend as every girl drew inspiration from Julia Roberts iconic moment on the polo field in Pretty Woman. I almost went there, wearing my "Pretty Woman Dress" but decided it was too literal.
Instead I wore this dress from Topshop, orange patent creeper style loafers from ASOS, orange suedette skinny belt from Forever 21 and boater hat from Primark (UK store, not online), combined with, my purse courtesy of Fossil and a Polo Match Gathering on my Arm (I'm making an effort to come up with other accessory based events seen as Man Repeller is trademarking "Arm Party") all from Forever 21 or DIY'd and vintage Raybans (courtesy of my Mum…or stolen from I should say…)
There were some absolute misses throughout the day…full plaid suits (you are not Blair Waldorf and this is not the Upper Eastside), actual gowns with obnoxious hats (this is not Ascot) and an actual tight red jersey Ferrari dress, complete with Ferrari logo (no that won't score you a rich husband it just makes you look like a Douchess)
Anyhoo. There were some excellently attired folk there, most of which were my friends, so enjoy the following pictures!
