Black seems sort of counter-intuitive as a Spring/Summer
2010 trend, right? I mean, it was just a few weeks ago I wrote a post about the
power of pastels! But black is back with a vengeance, appearing in head to toe
looks all over the runways, which was actually quite refreshing in a sea of
pastels and muted colors.
Wearing black is a great nod to Prohibition fashion. Think
menswear, ruffles and fringe, and flapper-style accessories like fascinators
and feathers. Also look for texture within the sea of black to make your items
pop! Look for items that are ribbed, lacy and piped. Keep your eye out for a
more in-depth look at studs and leather, coming soon in our Urban Warriors post!
Beauty-wise, there’s nothing more classic than black
eyeliner, lots of black mascara and a bright red lip! A beautiful way to start
spring, it’s also a great flashback to the 1920’s.
