A week or so ago myself and some fellow Two Point Oh! LA members got to go on a lovely jaunt to my local TJ Maxx. By local – I mean dangerously close – like 5 minutes walking distance. I'm fortunate enough to live near one of the newer stores complete with an excessively dangerous "Runway" section with lots and lots of high end designer bargains.
Oh dear. Definitely a problem for the wallet (though maybe not as problematic as say..Saks…) but a delight for the wardrobe.
Lia, visiting from HQ, took us on a tour around the store and explained a little about how TJ Maxx works. Using "opportunistic" buying methods (overstock etc) and buying frequently (as in all year round) TJ Maxx is able to work with designers and manufacturers and stores to get the best deals which they can pass onto us, the consumer. Yay for deals.
Not only deals but a fantastic variety of stock – new deliveries arrive weekly to 1700+ stores with every store carrying different collections.
Here are a couple of tips I learned to increase your chances of finding a great bargain!
• Befriend your store manager! He or she will be able to let you know when the deliveries arrive – so that you're the first to snag new merchandise!
• Look out for purple tags – this this the designer merch! Always check out the "compare price" tag – to see exactly how much you're saving!
Look at all the goodies I discovered on our trip!
Thanks TJ Maxx for the fun and informative tour – and thanks for the gift card – you;ll see what I did with it in my next post (here's a hint….I'm travelling a lot this month ;)
P.S interesting fact…in the UK, TJ Maxx is actually TK Maxx – I have absolutely no idea why – but the logo and concept are identical…so go figure!
