  • As we head into Spring. A little look at my first Fall as an Oregon resident. From the Grotto, to the Gorge. From team time to bestie time. Even more on the blog (link in profile) and more seasons to come. It's like my very own Gilmore Girls reboot where I definitely don't end up pregnant in the end.

  • Bear with me, I think this is a fun story. In 1788 John Meares discovered Cape Disappointment and thus missed out on discovering the Columbia River, hence the name.
.
Sometime in the early aughts, a teenage Kelsi discovered Cape Disappointment on a map (teenage Kelsi was wont to stare at maps for hours) and scribbled a notation in her journal stating how much she wanted to visit Cape Disappointment (spelled incorrectly) just to see if it was really disappointing (swipe for pic of said notation).
.
Fast forward to mid March 2018 and Kelsi makes accidental trip to Cape Disappointment with trusty side-kick @drs248. Serious attempts are made to find the cape peninsula and cape lighthouse. But finding either is a complete failure. Jokes are made. Cape Disappointment is deemed disappointing.
.
Mere weeks later, a return to Cape Disappointment after rumor of a beautiful cove in the same area that would be the perfect backdrop for our shoot. This time the opposite path is taken, the lighthouse discovered in the distance, then the original path re-traversed. As we hit the same point in the path we gave up again, as I had done weeks earlier, and, unable to see a clear path to the lighthouse or the cove, we turned back. Back at the top we looked at the maps again and decided to try the path one last time. And there, just 10 feet from where we'd given up twice prior, was this.
.
Just like John Meares before us, all we needed to go was go a little further. Except we definitely weren't disappointed.
