Yep….lookey lookey!! Me and my new bangs hanging out on the rooftop at The Standard Hotel in Downtown LA. 85% of you voted for 'em, and quite frankly I wanted them! So here they are – my new bangs. I'm very happy with them!
I wanted to take this moment to introduce you to lovely woman who made this happen: Erica Guevara of Beauty Box Salon, my beautiful hair stylist who has been cutting my locks for the past couple of years. I went through a lot of hairdressers before Erica and none have come close to the grin inducing results Erica produces…which is why I keep going back.
Beauty Box Salon, located in Echo Park is a cute little boutique style salon that recently just expanded (moving across the street) and now comes fully equipped to provide manicures and pedicures – a one stop beauty shop!
My cut and blow dry set me back $47 which in Los Angeles is practically unheard of, especially given the service. Visiting the salon is a treat in itself, friendly and inviting, Erica and the other stylists make you feel at home and pampered all at the same time (one of Erica's colleagues ran out to Maccy D's mid cut and picked me up some fries while she was there – though it must be noted this is not standard service – ha!)
The new location, on Sunset Blvd, in a strip mall, is chic and quirky at the same time, they retained a lot of the charm the old salon had (which was renovated on Peter Perfect – a Style Network tv show) but the addition of space and the mani/pedi bar combined with a sleek paint job and colour palette has only improved the experience.
I have yet to try to the Beauty Box Mani/Pedi experience but I will soon! Perhaps on one of my, soon to be frequent, complimentary bang trims! Erica informed me that the salon was the only one in Los Angeles offering CND Shellac, a new hybrid polish that promises to last a full two weeks… which just sounds simply amazing. So perhaps I'll be reporting back on that soon!
As previously mentioned a cut and blowdry is $47, Colour starts at $55, Highlights start at $65 and a blow out is $35. Manicures start at $11 and pedicures start at $27.
I sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, recommend the lovely ladies at Beauty Box so go check them out!

Your hair is freaking adorable! You pull it off so well. I cut bangs about two years ago and loved the way it looked but finally went nuts over not being able to pull a ponytail, and now I always miss them. Also – are those Cynthia Vincent for Target wedges? I wanted them soo badly, and they sold out in record time at both my area stores!
Also – don’t know how long it’s been changed, but I absolutely lovelove the new look of the blog. Great makeover!!!
i JUST read about Shellac today…how ironic. Only one salon in Houston does it apparently, but it’s right down the street so that’s good news! I’ll post pics if I get it done…
